What To Expect
Before class: you are expected to read the sections in the book we are covering and work on recommended problems from those sections. If you don’t want to read, an alternative is to watch one of these videos.
During class: I will present highlights/viewpoints/examples/more examples/opinions from the scheduled sections. Lecture will NOT consist of me presenting the same thing as the text. You are expected to participate in the lecture by asking and answering questions.
After class: Work on WeBWorK and make sure you understand recommended problems. Ask further questions in discussion sections.
Aleks
As a student in this course, you have access to a web-based learning program called ALEKS. Check it out. Specifically, you have access to a program for reviewing precalculus. Since many troubles calculus students face stem from a lack of proficiency in prerequisite material, it is highly recommended that you go through this learning program.
It is so highly recommended in fact, if you complete percent of the learning mode, then your final grade will be displaced by
percent. For example, if you complete 85% of the “learning mode” and your final grade in the course is 89.5%, then I will recompute your score to be:
You will have three weeks (until Friday October 19) to complete as much of the ALEKS course that you want.
